Career Opportunities
High Power is always searching out the best talent for its team. We don't hire just anyone.
Who are we looking for now?
Since we are growing at a comfortable rate, we are finding we could really get moving if we had these positions filled.- Office and Client Manager - We need an office manager to help with client engagements, light accounting in Quickbooks (A/R, A/P), document scanning, general operations. Our processes are very well defined and clear. Candidate must also be able to schedule weekly review sessions and take notes for client software development projects. If you are not good with computers, you will have a very hard time with this job. Emailed resumes will be accepted to info@hpcons.com.
- User Interface Designer - We need someone with strong CSS, HTML and Web Design skills. While we may get a professional graphic design company to create comps, we usually need help creating a complementary user interface for interactive web-based input forms which leverage JQuery, AJAX, and CSS. We also need someone to continue to develop our branding and assist with creating great-looking web applications for our clients. Note: If you don't know what Triadic, Tetradic, and Complimentary colors on the color wheel are, then you might not want to apply for this position.
- Technical Development Manager - This is where the fun is. We need someone to continue to build our internal development standards, architect Agile-driven processes and solutions, mentor apprentices, and crank code with craftsmen. You must be passionate about making people's lives better through superior software. Software development and technology must be your hobby. You will need to talk with the principles of High Power to get this job, but boy is it worth it.
What is High Power Consulting?
We are a small (under 50), growing, and profitable, software and consulting company based in Baton Rouge with clients in Louisiana, Texas, California, and Arkansas. We are looking for an Experienced Developers comfortable with Visual Studio .NET, ASP.NET (with C# and VB.NET Code-behind) Web Form Designer for either contract-to-hire, or full-time employment.
Our Requirements of you
You must be fluent with Visual Studio 2008 or 2010, ASP.NET (WebForms or MVC), C# or VB.NET and be able to teach a 30-minute class on the calling of business objects, LINQ, AJAX, JQuery, SQL Server and CSS. We don't care if you have a degree or not, nor do we care if you have certifications. We do care if you can write good code, good forms, and enjoy doing it. If you think "AJAX" is something your mom cleans the sink with, then you are probably not reading enough online. We do use third-party controls including Telerik and SQL Reporting Services for reporting. If you have worked with these, this helps a great deal. If you know of some third-party tools that make our company look better to our clients, we will buy them (yes, we buy our software -- no warez) and use them.
We work with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 so strong SQL skills are necessary. You must know the difference between an INNER and OUTER join and be able to write SQL statements and at least be familiar with T-SQL stored procedures, Views, and database functions. (Do you know what a CTE is in SQL Server? We use them.)
Examples of past work will be required. This means we will want to see a site, screen shots, or a demo of past work including code. You will need to talk about some code or project that you are proud of.
